Gerald Boudreaux was elected to represent District 24, in the Louisiana State Senate on October 24, 2015 and was sworn into office on January 11, 2016. He was re-elected
October 12, 2019 and sworn in on January 13, 2020 for the second term. He was re-elected to his third and final term on October 14, 2023 and sworn in on January 8, 2024

  • Director of Parks and Recreation Department (January 1985-June 2020); appointed to this position by six Mayors of the City of Lafayette. Served a total of 42 years (part and full time) in the department (1978-2020)

  • Past member of Board of Directors – Chamber of Commerce of Lafayette (1989-1991)
  • Past member of Kiwanis-Southwest LA (1984-2004)

  • Past Member of the Louisiana State Parks Board (1988-1992)

Gerald and his wife Carlos are the parents of Whittney, Hallie, Reginald (deceased) and Brittney (deceased). They are the grandparents of Kallie and Khloe Batiste The Boudreaux’s are members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he serves as a “Trustee”, Member of the Finance Committee and as Captain of the 11:00am Usher Society.

In addition to his community and civic responsibilities, Gerald was active as an NCAA College Basketball Official from 1984 until 2006, and was selected to work the Final Four five times during his career (four championship games). He served as the Supervisor of Men’s Basketball Officials for the Southeastern Conference from 2006 through 2013.
